ok the deal is that i don't what's going on.
And I didn't got the time to figure out what to write.
Been out too much this month.


Anyway I will go on with things that are obvious. So here it goes...

30/11 Chicken Little
Went with the TCSS people....tsukikage(about to embark on his next stage of life), nuriko(who just leveled up), yuki(who is too happy about the whole thing), snowbell(who I didn't see in a long time), retsu(who is always been around, sticking close enough), ellax(just change name. Formerly Spiderkim) and inova(who just came back)

Chicken Little is entertainment. Not a laugh-a-riot or very deep but it entertains and that's what's is more important. Zach Baff voice over Chicken Little. Quite a lot people say he ought to sound like a kid but Chicken Little is actually a midway between a kid and adult due to what his background.

Anyway it's fun. We played and hang around the arcade until Tiong Bahru there closes.
Proceed to usual haunt at the market there to eat. TB there KOF XI there got good players.Lol. Never stand a chance.Suntec there more n00bs (that's why I got a 50/50 chance).

10/12 EOY "Rainbow" Skirt Outing

Lol. Attendance

yuki (who got there too early) ,inova (who thinks he will be late) ,Cowsmoo (pink!Tan & Pink!) + her friend (the quiet guy but not so I heard) + NY (unusually quiet) + XY (cosplaying in Bleach group), retsu (safety rover), vanilla (just touch down) + Julian (vani's brother. Nice guy). Later hajime join in (always later....bcos of Ah Biao ge???)


Ok lah. But despite paying, the event is abit pale compare to others I went which doesn't requires me to pay (except the one at Science Center). Booths and all that are ok but...why most of the non-commercial entity had a dollfie there?

Nothings on the stage in noon. Got auction (which is silly.) but no noe seems enthu even for the MCs.

So we sit around crapping. But Guy Meer is always around. I think it's fate but I regret telling Inuran, I am fated with Meer.

Recognise Lenne. Trying hard to look for Tifa. However I didn't notice there were 5. For me, there's only Lenne's Tifa and Another Tifa. Lol.

There's a Aeris running around that caught my eye. She's sweet but I find that maybe Aeris is a character that only had one signature pose.

Ellax is doing a Inuyasha character. Not one that I can put a name to LOL. Still large weapons always caught people's attention and there's lotsa his pictures floating around.

Inuran did a Lacus I never seen before. Maybe is from a card or something. Meticulously been reproducing every image of Lacus, I had nothing but respect for her.LoL.

Kamen Rider is something new. One guy got a Faiz that's almost like real but there's a budget Rider 1. Imagine the feel of awe when you see them side by side. Both were doing a good job althought I felt the Faiz is out of character.Then again, Faiz is not a character in the story. He can be interchangable among the characters.

Oh ya. Who is the Belldandy. Would like to meet her.

Event ended and went to the Lame Juice Place to lame around. Hajime kena suan about her Ah Biao Gege. Not that I can help it but there isn't a need to be secretative about having a boyfriend. Unless SHE WAS eyeing at one of US. LoL.

13/12 Out of the Blue Sunshine Plaza Visit

Gone to Sunshine Plaza with Inova,Violet and Vani (with Julian). I didn't buy anything!LOL. Don't think I will buy anything from there.
Later on we go to Orchard there. I picked up 2 GSD Fortune Chara...got Shinn X Rey...weird. Never pick up anything from KIno. Somehow the books there are slower compare to M&A.

Went to M&A and picked up vol.2 of Welcome to NHK. Most of the books I bought recently are gag oriented. Is it because I am unhappy??Haha.

I think Violet is going mad soon if she got caught long between me and Inova...

And the funny is that I did want them to go Suntec's ToyRoom because Vani want to get the Eureka Figure. Guess what?There's actually stock over there. I got one for Vanilla 2 days later.

21/12 Narnia: The Lion,the With and the Wardrobe Outing

- everblue (*NEW* Shorter but fairer. Definately can click!Anyone who watch toku is my friend. LOL)

It's a pity we went in later. Missed a bit on the front (but not so much as yuki).
And also because we didn't tell Takumi clearly we be buying tickets, thus he brought along a friend unplanned. There's also a thing which the 5 of them had to sit up front because there seats were taken up by someone else. I was a bit peeved that I knew what happened after the movie. People ought to be told off on such behaviour.

Narnia is pretty ok. People are just too keen on the whole LoTR vs Narnia thing that they didn't enjoy the movie much. Just too bad for them.

25/12 Xmas @ CCK

Lol.I didn't plan for that. Just tell Violet if she wants because XY & NY cannot travel far. Ya. That's about. What made it happens is that I just get Violet to post a thread...and...

As usual yuki got early and I got late. Somemore she hid at one corner, some place away from where the rest gathered. Forgot to ask them to look for her despite she told me she reach already.

Went there and get lunch. Yukino-chan is quiet. Awfully quiet but I think I tried too so she think I chee ko pek. LoL. Not the first anyway.

We were at a round table.LoL.

Somehow we got started on a local production of Narnia...I think Violet and the rest are quite enthu and made a thread in the forum. NY & XY appeared.

Realised that XY & I carried the same handphone. geez.

Went to arcade. Tried that Taiko drum game. Pity cannot hear how the music goes other I ought to fare better. No KoF XI that day. The players there also quite strong.Ellax join us in between

Went over and brought over 11 people to Tsukikage's place. He's trapped at home because of a "broken" leg that isn't too confirmed. Looks slimmer than before, so the guys at Tekong must be giving him enough work.Haha.

Had a mini tourney on Soul Calibur 3. Of course tsukikage pwns all.

Oh ya how's ur buttocks yuki???LOL.

Borrow yugi-oh from tsukikage. He got books I don't have and will never have however.LOL.

28/12 Why didn't I stay at home??

Anyway went over to tsukikage. Show him how to get Night Terror. And borrowed more Yugi-oh. LOL. I still didn't like it but I push myself to at least under Yugi-oh.
Clearly pwn by tsukikage. 28 matches and I won only 3.LOL.

Met up with yuki and Inova. Pass things to Inova.

31/12 Sick on New Year's Eve

I lost my voice so I went to see the doctor. I don't think I can work tomorrow either. See how tomorrow.

Anyway I cleared all my Mai-Otome backlog. Arika is so cute~~!!!!MoE!!!

Look forward to '06. I don't know if it's a meaningful or fruitful year for me but I am sure the following year will be better. Definately. That's how I felt.

Cutey Honey
LOL. A real anime movie. Nagai Go is the master of Pop-Culture-Trashy Anime. The man who put Boobs to Robots, a heroine who wears nothing but pantyhose...and possibily even more than to my knowledge. Cutey Honey is one of his more reknown creation next to the Robots (Mazinger,Getter) and Devilman

What's Cutey???
She's an android who is able to change her costume at will. (Yes she is one of those mahou shojo type except she is by power of "Science"). Part this feature is banking on how many costume changes done. Sato Eriko did a decent barbie doll in this one.

Other than that the plot is ruler straight.
Gal Android has no kin or friends. She is ditzy and silly other because she is only a year old (LOL!). They didn't explain what happened to her scientist father but most likely perished during an incident with Panther CLaw the chief villian organisation in question.

Anno Hideo (of NGE fame) made this quite good for considering it's a translation of a manganime that banks on parodying other anime (mahou shojo). And there's a poor that reminds me of NGE too.

Last Update for the month???The monster update...not (Part 2)

A combination of a backache and a new gapping wound from Wisdom Tooth (I got only 1 of them!!Damn I am not too bright!)forced me to retire early from blogging the previous entry. Ouch.

So where was I???Hmm...

PSP
We (my bro and me) decided to forfeit a few hundred (abt 2) to get a new plan for Broadband so that we can redeem this. Lol. At the same time, upgrade to 1500kps and save a lot of $ in the future (because current plan almost same as 1500kps)

And we waited like 2-3months before we can redeem this little machine. Sexy 'little' beast. And after version upgrade, can go browse forum (LOL.Slow). No keyboard and typing is a pain. We bought a 1gb card but I realised that it be a waste to contain mp3 alone so I convert some backlog anime and watch them. Quite ok lah. Not as bad as I imagined. I tried start watching Surface on it. Realised that after using MP100 from OS, that my Mp3 listening preference is forever 128mb (or worse. 17 tracks. I think I am a CD person). And the PSP is used for anything but gaming (althought we bought Giren's Ambition. Bundled with Tenchu and Bubble Puzzle but I never played these before. Never before, never after. LoL.)And most importantly I get to hoard this beauty. Haha.

Surface
Surface is a thriller drama that involves a new species that kinda play homage to lizards (Godzilla?), an oceanlogist, a (former)insurance agent, a bored rich kid, US Government and a Dark Agenda.

Some people may find the plot cliche but I find it fascinating because I always had dreams and imaginations of giant beings living in the sea (and I swear it's before Godzilla) or lakes (nessie) or that water dam thingy that I see from the kitchen window back when I was young and living in Bedok.

The CGI isn't too clumsy and the actors are really good. Lake Bell is a looker. I rival her to Lost's Evangeline Lilly in terms of 1st Impressions.

Oh ya. It's felt LOST to me. Haha. I stopped at Season1 for LOST after catching a gigantic part of it on AXN and a bit on the comp.

.....whoops running late for preparation for work. I guess I just stop here and head for the showers....

And damn my back hurts. I think I need to see a bonesetter or something.

Last Update for the month???The monster update...not (Part 1)

Oh ya nothing really much happened so here's some short reviews on what I see and I played...

Sky High
Sky High is the name of the school that schools potential Superheroes. In this school, you are either a Hero or a Sidekick. This pretty much sums up as a elitist school that guage a person's potential to do this base on tests. It's unfair but it's one of the best way to work it out.

Anyway it's a regular misfit story. It's a great film and so I am gonna reveal anything else about the straight as ruler storyline.

Godzilla: Final Wars
This is perhaps one of the less boring Godzilla movies I watched but it's the most boring action movie I ever watch. Godzilla returns to fight Aliens that controlled his past opponents. And it's the one that had the most fighting actions by humans in Godzilla history. It's good but too experimental for my liking.

Garo
Funny I watched this on the PSP. Anyway it's a great toku series with amazing creature designs and fight scenes and setting. Garo isn't the fiercest looking toku hero around (but he is the most shiny and golden. LoL). A midnight slot feature so it goes to where other Toku didn't really venture. Loads of fun and terror. Recommended.

Harry Potter : Goblet of Fire
The first in my organised outing that goes beyond 3 people (And Actually Watching the Movie). LoL. I think the critical part is to find the right person to bait other people. Actually I just want about 4 people only because buy tickets easier. Not to mention it's a HOT movie and watching on SUNDAY. Thank God for CT for insisting to watch it on 10+. BUT I didn't THANK GOD for the backache that comes with the movie.

Anyway I realised that the whole world didn't sleep at the same time. Hajime can sleep at 5am. Wonderful. And Tsukikage at 3am as per Yuki. Guess there's a potential for Cafes that operates only at night....I guess Yuki knows what kind of Cafe I am refering to...

Anyway it's another year Hogwarts but everyone is growing up too fast. LoL.
It's a great movie considering I didn't read the book at all. Lord Voldemort looks so Alien...I swore he is Crazy Frog's Cousin since Crazy Frog is so evily annoying.

Summing up.

The Skeleton Key

I realised my tongue tied at the word 'skeleton'.Must be the gum ache that I am having that day (EXCUSE) Nevertheless I got my tickets and the ticketing crew didn't give me a hard time either (laugh weakly)

The movie pacing is slow and somehow if you watch enough of movies of that nature, you can smell clues far away and gloat over "I know that!!!And it was midway through the movie!".
Trailer made it look terrifying but actually it's more eerie and creepy rather than cheap shlock.

Suggest cinema,rental or HBO/Cinemax. Tv with advert wouldn't do it justice.

For the pre-show 15-20mins of trailer, we got more of horror trailers. So I didn't think I will see that Chicken Little "Put your Handphone silent" message.

Yet it did. Much to my annoyance and Yuki was awfully delighted about seeing it.


Rapid Culture

Went over because I just want to play 'draw lots' (LoL).
Inuran asked me "where I die to." citing "thought I died".
(That's a topic for later.)
Not really angry with her althought I don't really think we are that close enough for her to be qualified to say that .
(Althought I admit I feel that we do have affinity between us. As in friends lah lest stray minds.)

Anyway I got Auel for the Petite Stage and Heine for EF3.

What Auel reads to me : "You are at a confused stage. Soft of at cross roads of some kind. You dumb yourself to avoid confrontation"
What Heine reads to me : "Ought to treat people. Like being friendlier"

Oh well. Screw that. It's just an excuse to buy figurines for silly photo shoots.


SRW Alpha the 2nd

Sunday is raining badly so I just played SRW to do away time (oddly I remember playing Original SRW Aplha on rainy days too)

So far it's quite chicken feet stuff. The platoon system still boogles me. I just heck it and just pick n mix for amusement
rather for maximium effiency.

Devilman

Another Japanese animanga movie. Devilman is considered a poorer effort compare to Casshern in the area of story telling or
SFX.

The fight scenes are very very videogame cutscene. Graphics and dynamic is comparable to Advent Children but very short and brief

There are many instances which dropped Devilman to Camp rather than Cult.

Like the mutant gal who turned into a butterfly and suddenly she was in striking pink underneath her coat O(which I thought to be something dull because she that kind of dull girl who just lumbers around in her school life. From no where she got a katana and chop-shtick bang bang her opponents.

Or Akira in his manga getup (casual wear). Yellow Tee with leather pants and big A. LoL.

Or Devil-Akira posing with a hand by the front like a guarding posture whenever he appears as per to manga. It's lame when you don't find it necessary.

While trying to a similar message as per to Casshern (both released about the same time), Devilman turns out to be a B-grade movie with a manga story rather than a animeseque movie (deep profound messages, artsy fartsy). Makes great popcorn video which you can watched during a gathering with friends as they read magazines, chit-chat and play poker cards.

There and Back Again (part 2)

I finished the book.

In short, Sean Astin is nothing like Sam less (who is my favourite character in RoTK).
Sean is a just talented actor who is buried among among the cast of heroes playing a noble Everyman. He doesn't get as many scenes or given action scenes which people can remember.
Yet he is given the best lines to strike a chord with the Everyman in us and he did very well in it,
However other than emphasising what we already know, Astin shows us the Hollywood side of himself with all the rantings, what an Everyman would. He hoped to be memorise and to mesmerise. And he show how gullible he was in regard to the Followship tattoo incident.


GSD - The End?

I just finished the last 2 episodes of GSD. Man. What a conclusion.
It pretty much wrapped up everything.
However there's no climatic battle or built-up.
It pretty much like someone said something but he told it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter indeed. Except he got it rich meanwhile.

Corpse Bride

After the movie, as usual, i walked from simei to home. Along the way i saw Selena walked pass me. I wasn't quite surprise about her living in the east. It's just that i expected to see her in kino bugis rather than anywhere else.

Huh love in the air?Nope. It's just that she was the 2nd girl that i actually checked what's written on her name tag.(the first was Kaori Zhu who i believe is one of those goth loli cosplayers....and who i mistaken her to be 'kaoru zhu'...ok my bad)Why i checked her nametag? Bcos i expected something japanesque, Turn outs to be selena (thus i didn't notice if there's a surname.Was I disappointed?I am not sure if I am. LOL)

Anyway back to Corpse Bride
Hey.....it's the 1st time i watched a movie with someone and not really finished with the popcorns. LoL.

Yuki thinks it is because we ate before we went but the truth is that i got too engross while watching.Haha a fine amount of popcorn is wasted at the end. The finale is really well executed. This is the kind of cinematic experience that will impress you,no matter what kind of unkind reviews it got from snobbish film-goer.

The storyline wasn't too filled up althought I find that it's alright because there isn't a need for a killer tonne of back story. In a sense, Corpse Bride is a simple story that didn't want to go too complicating.You just want to watch Corpse Bride because it features a corpse bride, it's the right movie. There are minimal details to distract, just enough material to keep it going. I find that a good thing because nowadays, all i get are some oddity material that does nothing but to gain a sequel or a spin-off.


Casshern
Japanese makes beautiful pictures. Especially ani-manga film features.Absolutely fascinating. Casshern is an anti-war movie that disguised as a manga-sque action film.Fights are breath-taking.The CGI meticulously made to the fine details almost like demostrating that cinema is the NEXT EVOLUTION of animangasque that Hollywood can never offer.

Except it got a ridiculous ending that spirals down to nothing that matches to the begining.It's the kind of movie that makes you go WTF!!!! when the credit starts.


There & Back Again
Sometime back, I gave this book to someone as a birthday present. In an odd twist of FATE, it's THERE & BACK AGAIN!!!

When I bought it, it's 10% off the usual price. (Oh so sorry, if the truth hurts you. Yes. I am a cheapskate)
Now I somehow used the 10% I saved to buy the book.

Wasn't it surprising? And I didn't meant to browse!I was there to pick up cotton bud to do some clean up! And there it was! Exposed amount the heap of assorted books like it was waiting for me! Darn! Was there something that FATE wanted me to tell me through the book???? And so I begin reading...nope I am not finished yet.

On one fine Saturday Noon
Oh ya the other day, Joyce brought her newly acquired Boyfriend to show off. Not the best of temper And not enough sleep, I just go and on ridiculing her & her boyfriend. I don't really care how they felt about me. I just want to make clear to her that between me & her, I can take all her nonsense. If there's someone else, she ought to know her limits. if not she had to take "your problem not mine" for an answer later on if there's any over the board jokes.

Cold Bed & a Slightly Warm PS2
What's warming the PS2????DBZ Budokai 3. This is one game that brings the DBZ out of the box. Pity it's a game that had a damage system that can be easily abused but definately suitable for the average Everyman (me).

The totally over due update...

This Update comes really late. I didn't expect anyone to read anyway but just update because got people ask. Even just one, I will update. Haha.

My excuses this time round........work.

And also because I spent more time reading comic scans and playing Growlanser 2 and SRW Alpha 2. Strategy are tough to time with all those random abnormality that might affect the scores and such.

Work wise, I do slightly a bit more without Siti around because she had to cut her tonsil and only came back on the last week of August. Then after that David goes for a trip with his family to Genting. However in between that, David and me was suffering from health problems. His, being on the back and me the usual cold, fever, cough and throat whatever hybrid.

It was a tough 2 weeks and there wasn't room for MC because it would put the Suntec store in a disadvantage. Haiz. What to do.

Hinokio

I watched this with Yuki @ Tiong Bahru GV on the 15th. At first I worried about the tickets. Then I realised that I don't have to because tickets aren't moving. So I worried about the movie instead (sweats) since Night Watch and No Regrets are opening on the same day.

Anyway we ought to stick to what was agreed to (although I was the ONE who wants to watch it.). I think I wasn't really awake after I watched that German movie on ch56 that afternoon so despite being asked to buy seat at row G, I bought row H. Haha.

Hinokio is about a boy Satoru who lost his mother in an accident. Upset with the demise, he confines himself in the room, ignoring his father and refused to get treated for his legs. His father (don't all fathers are) made him a robot (603) to get back into the society by 'remotely' going to school through it. Through 603 (nicknamed Hinokio), Satoru rediscovers friendship and kinship in this 110min movie.

Oddly, the pacing goes into a fast forward motion once Satoru installed a Sensory Feedback program into Hinokio. Everything spirals to a quick end unexpectedly with a totally odd reference to 'afterlife' and it's connection to a random web game.

Maybe it's for the kids or the director decided not to overload us with nice to know stuffs so certain elements in the story remain untold.

House of Flying Daggers

I bought the vcd on April but I didn't really watched until last month on a sleepy wed afternoon. (Zheng Yimou's previous Wuxia effort was given the same treatment. I waited like 6 months after purchase before viewing.)

House of Flying Daggers ,in short, is a love triangle that is unfolds in a professional arena.
It was beautifully shot and strangely the real action to the story is the love scenes. The rest of the WuXia Grande is taken as a sideliner.

Watch if you really want to have a break from regular Fighting/WuXia genre.

Crying for Love in the Center of the World

Is a Tale of 2 Love of a Man that somehow interwine.
It's standard tearjerker fare but make to a style only Japanese can pull off (the koreans can make you cry but it's the Japanese that grips the soul.)

Beware it slips critical details in the most unexpected moments so try not to take breaks in between.

Swing Girls

Bewildering funny but if you watched Water Boys before, somehow you get ahead of the storyline. A tale of underdogs getting it fit. Recommend for a Boring and lazy afternoon and when you are in -_- mood .

The Proof of Man (Ningen no Shoumei)

A gripping and intense drama about a hard boil cop in a murder case involving an American that doesn't looks Japanese. Takenouchi Yutaka looks angst and angry most of the time
In brief 10 episodes, pieces of the puzzle are obvious although you wouldn't guess it til the 9th episode. Watch if you can spare lotsa time on the TV. Best to go through in 3 or less sitting.

Jewel in the Palace.

Business at STC is poor. Low sales and boring too. Walk-in yield low sales and every working hour is a torment and not to mention boring especially with the most 'boring' girl I ever met (Nana kept whining she was so BORING.). It was bad enough that Terin was concerned but I can never gave her an explanation. It's just poor sales.

I had to thank Yuki for coming to the shop haha. It's really boring on National Day. The frigging crowd just rushes thru without anyone walking in. Arghhhhhhh.....

Watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Yuki. I decided to skip Seven Swords for this since Seven Swords is actually a condensed version of a 5 hour wuxia movie (WTH!!!!)
and thus waited for the maybe complete 5hr DVD edition.

I never read the book however even I liked Roald Dahl as a kid.

Kind of a modern fairy tale for the children but I think adults will be equally entertained. A delightful wicked tale.

Natsu Matsuri. Yay.
LoL. Since this year no one in TCSS is holding a Get Together, I took the liberty of doing one. LOL.

And like every d4thday organised thingy, nothing works out. Funny.

There's suppose to be this person called yokocha that be going with us. Then again she decided to go with her friends. LOL.

Anyway I met up with Yuki and her 2 other MSN/IRC/SHe cannot remember ppl. I remembered one is called Nika. The other, I not too sure. And Yuki brought a CD-RW along! LOL. Lucky she didn't expect me to be a gentleman and carried it for her. And we saw Nuriko and we took a bus together. LoL. She disappeared once we get into the school.

The Q this year is somehow shoerter.I thought I arrived later than last year....but I saw no significance to having to Q from 11am (as well as 2pm...suppose to be Usagi be doing it but LOL he decided to LISTEN TO GOOD SENSE which is translated...YOURS TRULY here..haha)

And I got The MEAL TIX!!!!HAHAHA....no wonder I paid $10!haha. Silly me. I exchange it for unagi-don.....I dunno...I got a fondness for Unagi.I wonder why.

Wanted to play games but when Yuki and me went to Q for Basketball (which is quite late BTW...we just want to finish the tickets sooner.) we are told it's SOLD OUT. LoL. Whatever. Haha.

I saw Reinie May there with her buncha friends and Usagi (a nice friendly big guy) and Lacus (but I didn't talk to her..AGAIN..I think it's hard to talk to someone who is the Cake of the Party LoL.) and d4thflagpole...I mean Tsukikage. They make him the bag keeper!

I went back and realised I got 2 tickets left. LOL.

I went back only to see the Cosplayers making a hooha over some Goofball playing with a 'prop katana' (or some say it's a cheap toy). They talked like it's some Kingdom Come sin for the Cosplaying community. I was like HOI! There's was a chic Cross-player down there so WTH is with this OVER-REACTION over a goof with a toy sword???I meant crying out loud!Will they hang the Crossplayer???

The answer is NO.

I realised the cosplayers they involved in the bash are as closed minded as the people who judged cosplayers too quickly. I mentioned about Masamune (crossplayer) and those guys growled like hounds. I realised despite all the High and Mighty talk, these guys are just human. They shoo me off JUST BECAUSE THEY KNOW MASAMUNE. Sad state of thinking.

Masamune thought I was one ANGRY PROTESTOR. I was mistaken however there's no need to get into a fight so I wrote him a short apology and PM to him when I read his Apology post.

Then I started reading nonsense from people who are kicking a fuss again and I read something that equates Back-stabbing. Ouch. No wonder I like to observe them from a side and make friends with some. Somehow not all earthlings are good people.



I decided to make hobby post some other day. Read alot of interesting comics these days and watch 2 Asian movies. Maybe share the after thoughts later.

Watched Sin City with Inova and Yuki from Sgcafe.
It's actually the 1st time I watched a R21 title so it kinda memorable thing to do????
Anyway it was a great movie and very nicely done.Can't wait for the DVD.I believe the book is actually much darker.Comic violence and comic violence acted out is a totally different issue.I virtually laughed at most the violence scene (esp Merv's....who deliver a punch with a punchline all the time).

I bought Densha Otoko which I wanted to read so badly after reading about it on alpha's website.

I read Densha Otoko whenever I got time. The book is thick but only because of the BBS styled pages (it's a reproduction of a BBS actually...omitting most of the irrelevant posts)

It's a fairytale for the Modern Otaku.I am going to get a new copy and circulate my older one to all my otaku (male) friends.

One thing about the Densha Otoko Densetsu happening in Singapore is not possible.
Singapore is so darn safe especially the MRT that a woman will not thank you and appreciate you for the moment of bravery as exhibited by Densha.
Unlike in Japan, getting on a Densha (the equivalent of MRT in Singapore except they go further and faster) can be a frightening experience. Especially for women (check out the Densha Chihan games!!!LoL)thus Miss Hermes was so impressed with Densha for his act of impulsive justice.
And Singapore women where got like Miss Hermes like that....in fact I think the Densha Otoko is just an urban tale to make us Otaku feels better.
Thank You Densha!You give me the bravery to believe again!!!

In a strange twist of fate (perhaps due to Twisted Toyfare Theatre or the lack of manga in Kino Bugis), I bought Marvel comics again.I was thinking what to get when I spotted Spiderman: Blue. It's a book on how Peter Parker almost didn't get to love Gwen Stacy (before all the Ultimate and Movie Makeover, Gwen Stacy is Peter's 1st Love).

It's anti-climatic because they didn't wrote in the part on how she died.

So Monday I got nothing to do and lot of things in mind so I bought another book.
It's called Marvels and what it caught my attention is Alex Ross's drawing. Man he is
good.

Never did I expected that Marvels offer what Spiderman:Blue left out....strange....

Marvels is a great book....I urge people who like the Golden Age of Marvel to at least have a look.

Oh ya I read Crying for Love at the Center of the World (the manga). I nearly cried. I think some lost memories are coming back!???Like real. I thank god I didn't watch the movie with Inova.

Leader is last year's Vanillastar from Sganime ('cept she is vanilla now in Sgcafe.LoL, the identity crisis.)

She looks more cheerful than last year judging by her rainbow-color-skirt.

New friends met this year is Inova (online friend but never met), nuriko (seen her posts many many times), yuki (i setup her room thread)and drgreborn (know by avatar and nick only). Normally it's the people who say "Hi.Remember me??" to the cosplayers and the cosplayer was like..."hmmm.oh no..."

The joke was that we got a very cute Stellar cosplayer who runs forward to us and start talking to us (which is like...reverse of roles???)and I was very troubled because she was all that cute and I actually put my face as near as possible to try to see who she is (so cute!Damn where got I know such cute little gal one???). She didn't notice that I was looking at her because I didn't recognised her (truth is that I forgot to ask who she cosplay as!!I assume she was doing Naruto or Bleach!!!)
and she thought I was wondering about her eyes (purple contacts).

Ehh so I popped the duh-est question that might had actually hurt the fair little gal....

Cosfest are always like that.Packed.This year like warmer and interaction space is further taken up by the chairs and a arena for Virtual-on.

It's more like a Convention this year. No one is paying attention to the stage and I missed Lenne's performance.Oh ya she's not singing solo this year.Haha.Wonder how she will sound for the Stellar Image song. The movie cosplayers are not helping either when they appeared out of nowhere. Everyone is virtually looking out for the Predator. Awesomeness. I do believe people like something different once in a while.

Cosfest 05 not as tiring as 04. In a sense, they significantly cuts down on the performance (which you know are hardly entertaining to even the cosplayers themselves...ask Yomiko...).

The TCSS strays are later handled roughly by Yours Eternally when vanilla left for Punggol (where she lived). d4 whisked them off for dinner at White Sands. There we do the usual talking session and take photos.Quite funny bcos we took a corner of the food court for ourselves.LoL.

d4 thinks hard.....nothing left on Cosfest 05. It was enjoyable. Looking forward for Natsu Matsuri and EOY 05 (If i could make it).

And so Wong Jin made another movie on gambling.

Let's take a look at the basic plot frame......

Gambler lost quite a bit to a Gambling Czar.
Tournament.
Gambler won.

That's essential for almost all gambling movie. Somehow most gambling comedy will go in that direction.

Hey did I just made a spoiler for the movie even before I talk about it???

Anyway the plot is simple. Small time professional gambler/conman Zi Mo See (Yuan Hua) found Ah Wang (Roger Kwok), a waiter with fantastic memory while evading loansharks. See wants to make use of Ah Wang to get rich. There's only one obstacle.....Lady Boss (Yuan Qiu).
Put Zi Mo Si and Lady Boss together....ya...it will be like exactly what happened in Kungfu Hustle. See took Wang under his wing and encourage Wang to woo Cheryl (Theresa of the Cookies). Unfortunately Cheryl is the mistress to Boss Tian Jiu (Wong Jin). In a state misunderstanding, they exposed the affairs and Wang was beaten up till he becomes an idiot like a la Square Peg.The rest goes like cinematic formulae (clinches) of Wong Jin.

Nothing innovative but nevertheless entertaining. Gag wise, there are still the usual Misses but there are still some which you will chuckled but none really made one crack up. It's bad but not as bad as some of the movies Twins (or one of them) are in.

I liked the part whereby Cheryl becomes a hooker after their cover is blown and spotted by Wang. The part was handle so well and I was shocked when she jumped to her death.

Wang stood by the side and ate all the noodles he was supposed to deliver.

I watch the usual B grade Hk movies on vcd when I am not sleepy.
I also did a lot Batman watching (althought I didn't get to watch Batman Begins). I watched the entire season 1 of The Batman animation series. It was pretty nice althought they totally screwed the chronology and some of the villians' history.
And Bruce Wayne looks like Jackie Chan (As of the Animated Jackie).
Not that I am complaining. Clark Kent used to look like Bruce Wayne ( of Original TAS) until Batman team up with Superman and Bruce Wayne looks like someone else in the Superman TAS.

Got really into The Ravages of Time. This HK B&W comic sets in the Totally Romantic Era of Three Kingdoms. Of course I am still clueless why they called it the Romance of Three Kingdom because there pretty much nil female characters in the book.

Anyway the book is pretty much littered with battle of wits, chivalry and unstoppable generals.
Also an overkill of faux death, decoy generals, multiple identities and 1vs1000 scenarios.
And the biggest mindfuck involves a character called Meng.
Meng is an archer in the team of mercenary called the Crippled.
He also looks like a gal. They refer him as an eunuch. Yet he looks like a girl.
And he IS Diao Chan. One of the legendary Beauties in THAT ERA.
And that's not the end of it. He also had a liking for Liao Yuan Huo a.k.a Zhao Huo a.k.a Zilong a.k.a Zhao Yun a.k.a Leader of the Crippled.
And in recent volume (18)....Meng kissed Huo before he fell into the ravines (and into the 'arms' of Lu Bu who still thinks Meng is a woman).
And before that happened, Huo actually refers to Meng as 'biao zi' which means some what like bitch or slut in chinese when he tried to rescue Meng from Gan Ning.....so Huo...actually took Meng for a woman???
Oh the BL. LoL.
Subsequently Huo never returned to Sima Yi's side (BL pairing alert!) after that. He was so depressed by Meng's 'death' that he didn't returned back to marry Shu-zi from the Sun Family and finally making it quite official where Huo's heart went to.

Chen Mou was indeed very smart by inserting quite a lot of filler plots to beef up the RoTk background and extending the lifespan of the book. So much that, I expected, Longlang Zhuan to be very much shorter compare to RoT. I also believe he designed most of the key characters to be bishonen so as to gather a female following.

I also bought the Dreamers series by David Eddings. Didn't read them yet just like the LoTR novels. Read Twisted Toyfare Theatre however. Looking for volume 2-4 of the BEST series.

By the time I got back and played SMT 3, I was like struggling to get to the next (save)terminal around 12. (Irregardless of timing for the next day).

The following batch had some of the 12th and 13th NSF. Nice to see them in the base. They didn't much changes in the way they look.

Last day take ICT. 1st time in 3years pass static stations but run 1/2 way, stomach cramp. Alas unfavoured thus work in the End next to attend RT.Haiz.

Xian Jian Qixia Zhuan (Chinese Paladin)

About 8 years ago or even more, I was hooked on a chinese RPG game.
The story was one of the best I ever encountered and yet it wasn't too complicated as in the style where nowadays shown on the Final Fantasy Series.

The name was Xianjian Qixia Zhuan and it was installed on the root directory [PAL] (now I realised it stands for 'Paladin').In total I completed the DOS edition twice and without an FAQ. It's also the only RPG I actually tried to complete.

A few years back I got my hands on the New Windows version but it didn't really make much of an impact as it was before. Also there's problem playing it as I got kicked out at EXIT point of one map. After a long time, the sequel was released but it didn't live to expectation. Another gaming sequel and a side story edition based on it and an Online version was made available.

And Now. The TV drama series.

In a strange way, it's another title picked up because of nostalgia.
And it also features Nu Wa and Fu Xi.Such coincidence.

Anyway I was glad and sad on picking up the TV series.

For one thing, they made Li Xiaoyao into something rather repulsive. I really like the character in the game but in the Tv....he is just a rotten hooligan?

Casting are really the Young and Beautiful. Hu Ge (playing Li Xiaoyao) might have crooked teeth but why not?It's not like heroes in the past gets excellent dental services like we does. Cameos and support roles are played by known veteran in their own sake (Sam Lee, Xu jinjiang, Zheng Peipei, Loletta Lee and etc).Also Channel U artiste, Bryan Wong got a rather prominent role at the begining stage and he is joined by Gou Liang and Fu Fangling.

Story wise, quite a bit of changes was done.For one ,the plot of the sequel to the Original Game cannot be followed because Xiaohu is demoted to be a sidekick of Xiaoyao and one of the same age. He also happens to be played by Sam Lee. There's also Time Traveling in this drama....it didn't happened in the game either. The director tried to include certain scenes from the game. While rather strange, it's nice to know he did his best to smuggle some minor details from the game puzzles and gameplay.

So far I am at episode 8.

Visual effects are definately better than MDwaV III but you can tell it has a bigger budget. Costumes are rather well-made and brings out the character personality. The logic of Martial Art skill is however irrelevant. Li Xiaoyao's ability to fight is straightly progressive with the storyline without any explaination.Kind of like in the same way as an RPG character would and it sucks because his ability isn't governed by Levels. He could be like Level 18 at episode 7 but he jumps Level 21 at episode 8 althought all he did was teasing Yue-ru. Or teasing gals is actually a way of raising experiences?

The comedy value is up here. It's suppose to be a pop idol Wuxia drama but not of the Jin Yong kind so the seriousness isn't there.

Total 38 episodes. If you are interested, maybe wait for the dvd edition or for Channel U. I believe it will on free local channel within this year or the next.

My Date with a Vampire III

The direct sequel to My Date with a Vampire II (A.k.A The Ultimate Sappy HK Drama with Vampires, Exorcist and Cheap Matrix-like SFX) or simply the HK Answer to Buffy : Vampire Slayer.

The rule of the game is simple.
-Get a Vampire and pair it up with a slayer ( which is already done for 2 series already)
-Get a catastrophe that will destroy the world (as in the 3 realms in Chinese Mythology) and set it in Hong Kong.
-Gods and Demons. Ghost and Ghouls. Vampire and Slayer. Endless fighting action in the form of Cheap Affordable CG without style or form.

Plotwise, MDwaV III tried to simulate the brain by trying to be clever. Or too clever resulting in a bored viewer if he/she cannot catch on. The last 'clever' plot device results me in a yawn because it's too dumb and anyone who saw it would agree with me.

The script crosses Back to the Future, a standard brotherhood HK SDU movie, a movie about SARS (YES!IT IS!), a warring state period romance drama and the pretty standard Vampire/Slayer "My Date with a Vampire" stuff.

Xiaoling and Tianyou were brought into the Realm of Pan Gu after II ended. Their bliss is short-changed after a rogue goddess, Yaochi Shengmu, broke free from the seal that imprisoned her. She casted a plague, killing all Pan Gu ( vampires are genetical descendants of Pan Gu) and fled to the mortal world. Hope now lies on Xiaoling, the sole survivor of the ordeal. She is entrusted to go back to Song Dynasty and to bring Jiantou, the previous incarnation of Tianyou to 2004.

Apparently that's when the logic collapse for Vampire III since it's apparent that if Jiantou never dies....how can there be Tianyou???And so the series degress into one which is "I don't care how you do it, just do it - Entertain me" show.

The script writer nevertheless tried to cover their ass by saying that Timeline is governed by the Book of Heavens. It records everything from the Start to the End and when Xiaoling brought Jiantou back, she totally 'hang' the Book of Heavens and that the future will start to change because the Book of Heavens will have recompile itself.

The plot is engaging nevertheless because the storyline shifts around, making it fresh and entertaining at every turn. The main focus is actually on Xiaoling as her screen time is relatively high compare to other characters.The other focus will be on Yaochi Shenmu the Beautiful Female Villain who would in the near future destroy the entire 3 realms just because of a word - LOVE.

Sappy and perhaps even naive the chief concept is.
But the worst part is of the cheap special effects. In fact I prefer the SFX style in Vampire I rather than II and III.
Luckily the fights are brief and few in between.The drama factor is higher in this one and I suspect the producers rather spent more money on clothes and cheap SFX rather than hiring stunt co-ordinators. If you think the SFX in Feng Yun is ridiculous, wait till you see Vampire III. It's embaressing.

And on the wardrobe factor....if you see the picture above...it's actually costumes meant for the last episode. The fun part is that these costumes are like suits in Sentai. Costumes and normal wear can be switched with a blink of an eye.

Cast wise, the casting is good except Yi Tianzhao is losing it. He looks like a bloated middle aged man and Chen Haonan is equally bad as a donkey faced middle aged man with a tuned body ( Simon Yam looks way better even he is slightly older). I cannot imagine a part IV because Yi Tianzhao will look....I cannot imagine.

Overall this series is ok to pick up if you watch the previous series. However the interest will die if you jump straight into this one.

PS: If you watched the VCD, the ending is 'open'. However the ATV ending is a step closer to 'Close' rather than 'open' with an additional scene. I suspected due to religious/moral sensitivity, that scene was obmitted from the VCD edition.

Watch movie with Sign (duncha luv his names????). We are suppose to watch Hitch at 1pm but end up with the 3pm one. Row D somemore.

Despite all that, it's a good movie, especially enjoyable if you got a date......but with a guy friend..oh well....good nevertheless. Somewhat was glad all the gals cannot make it for the Unfortunate Events and watched Hitch instead. Hitch is a so-called Fairy Tale movie for dateless guys that are either apprehensive against relationship or no confidence for one. It makes people want to believe. As if. A skeptic isn't one if he believes in something without a good solid reason.

Wanted to go some place but ends up in Harborfront, thanks to my idiotic nature of wanting to go somewhere (Right bus, Wrong Direction). I just went to Sentosa last month....no way am I going there alone again!

I watch Hana & Alice during the renovation.
It's a strange movie and pretty much like any art movie, the ending pretty doesn't sums up anything. It's the End just to end the movie.
Honestly it's a nice and fuzzy and no less strange movie that involves 2 girls and their friendship.
Anyone with a fetish for Japanese gals in School Uniform (haha...me) or slight interest in watching a feel good Art Film should pick this title up.

Dinner went to Jyne's mum's Japanese food store @ Circuit Rd. The Unagi Don was good. She is a pretty nice gal considering that she helped her mum despite a hard day's work and introducing a new customer.

It's a weird show. I wanted to watch earlier but there are way too many people around making all that din.

Earlier the Fengshui Master came over. Oh wow those stuff works. He boosted the sales by 50% (bcos we only sold 2 items earlier.) Not a bad start. Too bad I don't believe him because he look like Barry. Not that Barry is a conman of course. Or that I don't believe Barry of course. It's just the combination of Barry looks and Fengshui. Haha.

Started to play Shin Megumi Tensei: Noctune. This is a classical game that got a Ps2 treatment with a whole new look and an additional cool factor of having Dante from Devil : Are you Crying?......Whoops.. Devil May Cry series doing a cross-over. SMTN 1st or DMC?

SMTN lah (actually SMT 3).

I love the SMT line of games althot not many made it's way to the console in English due to rather heretical settings and well...in the West, games are not that ready for Adult/Mature ratings back then.

SMT (which include Sister series like Persona, Digital Monster Saga and Sakon Blade) is known to be a fusion of Myths and monsters from all around the world. Noctune is more a Hindu ideology setting with a reshape of the world with the player as a demon hybrid that will shape this new world. The last boss is God. So the game becomes Satanic (As according to players from the West.) However in this brave new world, to face, to confront oneself, to open up is really the way. Follow the church, cult, religon blindly and all you get is nothing but the lost of the individual identity which I believe is the Ultimate Sin.

Completed Fatal Frame at Easy Setting. It's easy alright.
The boss Kusabi is only fark up bcos it's One Touch Death and recovers during teleportation.
Zero Shots are easy to perform so it's only a matter of time.that he was taken down. The Ending sucks, you can smell it miles away if you watch the game demo and read the in-game documentations.

An alternative ending is possible but I need to unlock the other levels of difficulty other than Normal in order to access to that.

Fatal Frame 2 turn out to be less than what I expected. They hyped it to the extend that it fell flat in front of me. Perhaps because maybe if you can kill it, it's not too scary anymore.
Burn Out 3 is easy to play but difficult to master. Wished I got a bigger TV.

After work bought Ace no Ware, a TV drama based on the classic Tennis shojo manga/anime. Starred Aya Ueto as a Hiromi, a girl who never really stayed long on her club activities. She joined the tennis club because of Ryuki Reika a.k.a Madame Butterfly because of her status in the High School tennis circle. However Hiromi got picked upon by the loyal followers of Reika and seniors because of she got too close with Reika and it didn't help when the new coach Jin, wants to groom her up and made her a regular of the competition team (Hence fore the 'chiong' english title by the vcd ppl....THE OUTCAST GENERAL....she was outcast by the club and a GENERAL bcos zhu jiang last word is jiang also general.)
