Watched: Death Proof

The idea of Grindhouse was a double back to back feature. International audiences think the cinema people are exploiting the situation to roll in big bucks when the 2 features are split and sold as individual. I think the cinema people are just trying to maximise the profits to just try to break even. LOL.

Death Proof might had been a bizarre experience for those of Modern Cinema. People who are new to QT's style will find it a really bad film with nothing but Bitches yakking away. Those who knows QT is paying homage to Grindhouse Films which translate to BAD CINEMA. I don't think I watch any of these but think cheap Taiwanese movies they shown in Midnight or any Cleaned Up Cat III HK movies. Add in the scratched, aged film look with disjoint reel and such. There you have it.

Plot is linear. In fact Death Proof is like 2 movies on it's own.

First Act is about a psycho, stalker Stuntman Mike who had been stalking 3 girls around in Texas and made contact with them in a bar before bumping them off with his "Death Proof" Chevy Nova with a head on collision of their vehicle. You got to love Kurt Russell for being such an Asshole as Stuntman Mike.

Because they got eyes on Mike for the stunt he pulled in Texas (he was free to go after all that shit), he appeared in Tenassee 14 months later.

Hence comes the closing act which he tries to terrorise another group of girls. He ends up getting more than he bargained for naturally. You got to love Kurt Russell for being such a wimp as Stuntman Mike.

Guess what's the part with the most laughs are at???
When THE END pops up.

So how much is the movie worth??? All of your $9???
I don't know. I rather pay $30 more to get the DVD hearing QT and Kurt yakking away. LOL.

Invincible

To be honest, I never read anything from Image. I did bought an issue of Spawn but it stops there. No absolute desire to be playing an active reader of their books until recently. All the while it was Marvel. And then DC. So I decided to check what Invincible is about since I read great things about it on and off.

Invincible's art, at best, should be called Bare Minimal. There's a god 300 titles out that can easily impressed the readers out there in terms of Splash pages, effects, character design, fantastic artwork, amazing details. Invincible doesn't. It's very simple stuff with simple colouring, light on the eye stuff. However don't be fooled. What's in there is very clever scripting and design. Invincible is engaging without trying to fuck your eyeballs off.

Mark Greyson is a simple teenager flipping burgers and eyeing the fry machines. Then puberty came. All the sudden, he will be able to do what his father, Omni-man been doing.

Superhero stuff.

Wow. That's a rather plain origin. He wasn't bitten by a Spider, exposed to Galactic Radiation or made a pact with a demon. Nothing exciting. Except his father lied.

He lied about who he was and what he is going to do.

I am not going to give the game away but if you got intentions you can pick up Invincible with 3 options: Standard trades (I choose this) or Hardcover Ultimate Collection (Hamster Killer) or Hardcover Complete Collection (The Puppy Killer). I can say that most FAMOUS titles didn't had a Puppy Killer within 4 years of publication so it does say how good (or how Image strongly pushed this title).

Oh and they are going to make a movie

Althought some of the twists, plotline wouldn't much of a shocker if you read quite a bit of manga titles.

If you are interested, here's issue #01 (on the Top right.)

Three X Three

It's the season of ThreeS and therefore 3 reviews of 3 'THE THIRD' movies.

Spiderman 3
Acumulated tension of 2 movies wasted on the 3rd.
The potential is not harvested properly, the expectation was let down.
Sure it's a pretty good movie, compared to [Revenge of the Sith] which in my opinion left the audiences pretty much unsatisfied.

The direction of this movie is pretty simple, make Spidey busy. Tons of Special Effects and lots of 'oh.ah' plot twist. A very busy movie compare to Spiderman 2
After going introspective for the last 2 movie, they tried it again in Spiderman 3 with mixed results.

Every Great Aspects of Spiderman is in Spiderman 3.

Good Guy fighting inner demons? Check.
Villian isn't a really bad person? Check.
Fanciful Special Effects? Check.
Makes you want to be Spiderman? Check.
The Quotable Aunt May? Check.
A song/dance routine? Check.
Bruce Campbell? Check.
Jonah? Check.
Wet Shirt and outlining of nipples? NO!!!Why???

Ok the last one doesn't really counts. Even if it's probably a fan favourite.
Leave your expectations behind, you probably be a happier cinema viewer.

Pirates of The Carribean : At World's End

This is the better of the 3rd movie I watched so far, althought cinema viewers who skipped both Pirate movies before will end up confused and mildly entertained.

In terms of plot, it delivers and answers most of the loyal viewer's question. However it will really help to throw logic off board since mythologies and magic is in place.

Action set pieces wise, it loses out to part 2, it doesn't provide anything new except Flying Dutchman vs Black Pearl in a whirlpool. It doesn't create a spec fest only water logged pirates.

Highly suggest a viewing of both Pirates movie before watching part 3 to fully enjoy this.

Shrek the Third

Shrek the 3rd wise is a fairly simple story. The only drawback is probably that it's too short to showcase everyone but making it too long will bored the kids. New elements are introduced althought hardly substantial to make an impact.

And therefore in overall conclusion, these 3 titles fairly dipped and barely satisfying the long time supporters (or probably just me) yet will throw any new viewers into confusion easily. However in all fairness, these 3 the Third movies are certainly good films, entertaining without forgeting storyline and eye candies.

Famous Movie Kiss?

Your Famous Movie Kiss is from Romeo + Juliet

"Has my heart loved 'till now? Forswear it, sight! For I never saw a true beauty 'till this night."

Do You Have a Dirty Mind?

Your Mind is PG-13 Rated

Your mind is definitely a little dirty. You're naughty, but not trashy.
You don't shy away from a dirty joke, and you're clearly not a prude.

Are you immature?

You Are Somewhat Mature

You definitely act like an adult sometimes, but a big part of you is still a kid at heart.
While your immature side is definitely fun, you're going to have to grow up sooner or later.
