July movie Viewing

Nacho Libre

Obviously it is a pure popcorn affair but still it's beautifully shot of limit sets on a sleepy Mexico town.

Jack Black is the hero of the show, a priest who always wants to be a wrestle perhaps in a desperate act of proving himself by fighting in the ring. As he continues to lose in the ring, his life gradually improves and when a shot at a exhibition match with the Best is presented to him, will he really proves his worth?

Good for snoozy hot late afternoons.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead man's Chest

If there's only 1 epic sequel you had to watch this summer, this is the movie you cannot afford to miss.

In fact after 3 weeks of screening, we only get a 4th row seat in the end. Shows how popular it is.

Strangely this movie poses a stark contrast to Nacho Libre.
Nacho Libre is more natural with some rather physical comedy thrown. Simple ingredients but enjoyable. Like some home cooked dish.
Where as in Pirates 2, is still the same enjoyment but too many ingredients thrown in.
The expensive sets were fantastics. The storyline goes in 3 directions but ultimately going back to the same conclusion. It's a great adventure movie whereby it going to windwards to the next sequel. Brillant.

However there was something in the end that was kind of worthy to discuss.

Will saw Elizabeth kissed Jack Sparrow. The truth is that Elizabeth kissed Jack in order to tricked him so that the rest of them can be saved.
Will Will (haha) forgive Elizabeth when she says the truth?
I think he will be more pissed about that than her kissing Jack.
Love is such a complicated issue.
Jeez.

This movie is a good one to sit in double bill with the first Pirates movie. However the 1st movie is very much better one. Much more focused.
Great for a day's entertainment when things are slowing down.
